THE IDEAL CASANOVA SONG : CHARACTER DHEELA
I first heard this song about a fortnight back being aired in the promos for the latest Salman Khan starrer “Ready” slated to be released next week. At that time, I just heard an excerpt of that number given my favourite habit of surfing through the various channels without staying on a channel for more than half a minute. But then, every time in the last ten days or so, whenever I switched from Sony Max where I was watching the IPL matches whenever the ads would come on, I encountered this song on several channels. And it struck me that apart from the frequency of the airing of this song on the various channels, there might be an external force prompting me not to miss out on this number. And so I listened to the full song with Salman being jostled and surrounded by several babes. And the song caught my attention so much that I actually started out hunting out the channels which were airing this song! And then, courtesy YouTube, I saw this song several times over and over again in the last ten days. Such a phenomenon hadn’t occurred to me for quite some time and hence the reason for this write-up on this song.
When I shared this idea with my wife (who had been virtually coerced to listen to this song), she did not sound quite enthusiastic about the idea. Her view was that my eulogizing this song could tarnish my “Seedha” character and image! By now, you would have come to the conclusion that this is not a “classic” number, in the true sense of the word; and you would be absolutely right. And yet, in the times in which we live, where Facebook does not keep messages for more than three days, where movies do not run for more than three weeks, where one does not hum the recent good songs for more than three months, the Character Dheela number does make an impact.
First, the picturisation of the song itself. Salman fits in the song and the character in as snug a manner as is possible and the result is the lyricist Amitabh Bhattacharya (who obviously wants to be in Salman’s good books) has vehemently denied that he had Salman’s personality in mind when writing the song! Amitabh Bhattacharya, who pens lyrics for most of the new genre multiplex oriented movies, has created lyrics which convey the philosophy of the modern day Casanova in today’s lingo. Since this is a short song, I am reproducing these lyrics here.
KUDIYON KA NASHA PYAARE, NASHA SABSE NASHEELA HAI
JISE DEKHOON, YAHAN WOH, HUSN KI BAARISH MEIN GEELA HAI
ISHQ KE NAAM PE KARTE SABHI AB RAAS LEELA HAI
MAIN KAROON TO SAALA CHARACTER DHEELA HAI
HAI SIMPLE SA YEH FORMULA, HAI LOVE KA FUNDA KHOKLA,
MUJHE BAS PYAAS TOH YEH DIL, COOL COOL COOL COOL REHTA HAI
KISIKA HAATH THAAM KE, KAREIN KYON WAADE NAAM KE
HA LOVE YOU FOREVER, KOI FOOL FOOL FOOL FOOL KEHTA HAI
KISE HAI LOVE SE MATLAB, YAUVAN SANTREELA HAI
FARK PADTA HAI KYA BAAHON MEIN MUNNI HAI YA SHEELA HAI
ISHQ KE NAAM ….
YEH CHARCHA FACEBOOK PE HAI,MAZA BAS EK LOOK MEIN HAI
HASEEN CHEHRE KA KAUN DEEDAR BAAR BAAR BAAR KARTA HAI
JO DIL KA PHOTO FRAME HO, WAHAN KYON PHOTO SAME HO
CALENDAR KI TARAH USEY ROZ ROZ ROZ CHANGE KARTA HAI
KAMAR PATLI HO JITNI BHI MAZAA UTNA NASHEELA HAI
CHALEGA JO BHI AANKHON RANG KAALA YA NEELA HAI
ISHQ KE NAAM….
The song is sung with great verve by Neeraj Shridhar, who had started the famous Bombay Vikings Group in the mid nineties and who has lent his voice in several of the new gen movies and providing him the female support is Amrita Kak. And another product of the new gen movies, music director Pritam has composed the catchy tune. So go ahead, lock up your grey matter, get on the dance floor and let your character become DHEELA! And if you want more, listen to the other peppy number DHINKA CHIKA from the same movie!
